
Lily Sawyer-Kaplan

Lily Sawyer-Kaplan joined the firm in June 2025. She previously worked as a trial attorney in the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice. She clerked for Judge William A. Fletcher on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and Judge Amit P. Mehta on the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
Lily graduated summa cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School. At Michigan, Lily represented individuals in criminal cases before the Sixth Circuit as part of the Federal Appellate Litigation Clinic and was a project manager for the Civil Rights Litigation Clearinghouse. Lily also worked as a law intern at the New Hampshire Public Defender and the Center for Appellate Litigation. Prior to law school, she spent two years as a client advocate and paralegal at the Southern Poverty Law Center.
